Orthotics & Prosthesis Orthotic is defined as external support or brace for a functioning weak/existing extremity. Prosthesis is defined as artificial devise to replace a missing part of the body. For over two decades Ortho Medical Associates have been facilitating visiting American Board Certified Consultants who evaluate and customize prosthesis and orthotics for our disabled patients. We have been conducting free handicap clinics 4-8 times a year with the help of Or-Pro Medical Inc of Puerto Rico, the biggest and most modern institution in Central America that manufactures custom made orthotics (braces, calipers, splints, insoles and shoes for abnormal feet) and also provides functioning lower limbs prosthesis for below and above the knee amputees resulting from trauma and diabetes. Clinics are conducted to evaluate patients suffering from deficiencies of upper extremities functions and to provide functioning artificial limbs suiting their cosmetic needs. Our Orthotics & Prosthesis overseas consultant work with Dr.K.K. Singh our orthopaedic surgeon who will improvise surgical needs to suit the patients' requirement of functioning prosthesis and enable then to function. The measurements and fitting are done at Ortho Medical Associates at their best during organized handicap clinic schedule throughout the year. |
